(3) Must be willing:- to work for your deliverance, if you want to get set free. Many people would like to be set free delivered, but aren't desperate enough, they aren't yet at their breaking point the end of the road. They try other forms of healing and its not until they have exhausted every other option that they will turn to deliverance. (just like Pharoah when the plagues hit Egypt, and Moses said "let my people go" and Phoroah said "no!". Then when the plagues of frogs came he said "stop them" and Moses said "when?" Phoroah said "tomorrow" he didn't say right away, you see he wasn't desperate!... He was putting up, making do, getting on. This is like so many people today, putting up with their torment, affliction. They are not desperate, when it doesn't have to be like this. Jesus says "I have come to give you life and have it more abundantly." Not to make do, struggle on, put up with, just another day. It plays an important part of your deliverance to want it gone, to be set free, be willing to help, to open up and to except the prayers and directions.

(4) Inner healing:- there are emotional wounds that need to be healed for people who have been raped, abused, rejected and hold bitterness against others etc... Demons will use these wounds and weaknesses against a person, to hold them in bondage and get them to revisit and open doors so that they can re-enter. The inner healing plays a vital step in the restoration process that needs to take place in the lives of many who are seeking deliverance.

It is vital to get right down to the root cause. Like if you have a wound, instead of bandaging it up and trying to forget about it and then every time you knock it the scab comes off and the puss comes out and is sore again, you need to dig that wound out and clean it out for the healing to take place.

It is like a tree you can cut the branches off 1 at a time, like drugs, drink sleeping around, watching porn but these are just the branches, you cut them off and another will grow in its place. Then you get to the trunk of the tree. I hate myself, no self worth, fear, rejection etc, then we get to the root of the tree i was abused, my father didn't love me, i was abandoned as a baby. Its not until we get to the root can we kill the whole tree, get to the centre of the infection then we can administer and treat it (with the blood of Jesus).

(5) breaking strongholds:- Strongholds are incorrect thinking patterns that people develop over time, are often set up and nurtured by demons by lies and deception.

Demons thrive on strongholds, and use them to hang around a person and torment them.

What is a stronghold?

What many people believe about the deliverance Ministry is what they have heard from the media or taken from Hollywood films, they have not searched the Word of God to investigate the purpose of the ministry for themselves.

They have never asked what is the bigger picture for my problems or illnesses, they just except it and struggle on through life, they may even at the very least go to the doctors for pills and medication or get prayer for the problem.

Sadly in todays churches the Word of God is so watered down so to not offend or upset anyone with the truth, it is kept to the nice and easy listening comfort message. With no mention of hell, sin or even repentance let alone a rebuke. Subsequently many of today's churches aren't working within the ministry or the gifts of the spirit.

Unfortunately, a number of churches that like to think they are spiritual, might minister the deliverance of demons, have gone the other end of the spectrum, which have gone heavily into the occult and witchcraft realm, with gold dust and feathers falling from the ceiling and so called precious stones, having rotten teeth filled, meditation to open the 3rd eye to get into the heavenly realm, prayer tunnels, seeing 12ft angels in the back seats of cars to angels appearing to them in the night, grave sucking, to get a dead mans annointing and false prophets prophesying if you give donations of money to yoga style meditation.

.

This is what everyone wants to know:- Can a christian have a demon?

This is perhaps the single most important questions that is asked concerning deliverance, let me first say that it is satan's number 1 lie to keep demons from being cast out. Because if Christians could not have demons, then what is the point in casting them out, if all we had to do was get the person saved and their demons would leave on their own? That would leave us casting demons out of people who refused to except Jesus as their Lord and saviour.

A christian can anything they want and that includes demons, the bible says " I have set before you blessings and curses."

Its abit like you go buy a new used car, its new to you all nice and shiny and lovely to drive, but when yu look inside the bot there is a load of rubbish, the only way to get rid of that rubbish is throw it out.

This is like when you become born again, the bible says " the Lord will make all things new, the slate has been wiped clean all your sin is forgiven, you have stepped from death into life and eternity from hell to paradise".

With the Holy Spirit you can overcome your old temptations that has led you into sin, but also what has affected you through your ancestors, generational curses, the occult, secret societies, oaths, blood packs, soul ties and many more are still their and need to be broken and cast out.

What is the purpose of deliverance?

The ministry of deliverance is about bringing spiritual victory and freedom to those who are in bondage. It doesn't matter what you call it (demonised, possessed, oppressed etc). If you are in demonic bondage, whether you need to tear down a stronghold, break up legal ground, cast a demon out, or all three.... its still deliverance, because its setting the captives free. Casting out demons is just a part of the overall ministry of deliverance.

(6) Removing legal rights:- Legal rights are things that give demons permission to enter and remain in our lives, these can also be called gates or doorways into our spiritual lives, before demons can often be cast out, it is important to address and remove these legal rights. Close the gate, doorway in our lives. This can be a number of things from what you watch on TV, tattoo's, DVD's, pictures, jewellery, books, clothing, relationships, anything that gives the enemy a legal right to your life.

(7) Casting out the demons:- This requires 2 basic elements - Knowledge of your authority in Jesus Christ and faith in that authority that Jesus gave us on the cross when he defeated death. Demons are cast out with a simple spoken commandment, such as "I command the spirit of lust, fear etc.. to come out in the name of Jesus!"

There are many demons and what they do and how they enter, how they usually operate etc. For example the bible speaks of spirits that cause physical health problems such as the spirit of infirmity, blindness, deafness along with spirits that cause fear and depression, mental illnesses etc.

There are many ways in which demons can affect your life.

The Ministry of Deliverance

THUNDER MINISTRYuk

The prayer of salvation

I call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I believe you are the son of the living God and you are the only way to heaven.

I ask for forgiveness of all my sins and i repent of them all in the name of Jesus, I ask you to wash me clean with your precious blood, i believe you died on the cross for me and on the third day rose from the grave and now sit on the right hand of the Father, I ask you to come into my heart as my Lord and saviour from this day on as i turn my back on my old life and from this day fourth live for you. In the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

(2) Be baptised:- fully submerged in water (a public confession of faith, Jesus said believe and be baptised. It is a written command from the Lord himself.)

There is no specific time from believing and being baptised. The church has made this into some kind of religious ritual where you must wait 6 months, have bible studies and then invite everyone to se you be baptised. Its is a confession of faith in public, and being baptised FULLY submerged in water, putting your old person to death and coming out the water a new person. Like Moses led the Israelites through the parting of the Red Sea, from there old life from captivity into their new life the promise of God. Also Noah being saved from the destruction of the world from the great flood (water).

Important elements of deliverance

There are a number of elements to being set free:- from the pulling down of a stronghold, casting out a demon, breaking up of a legal right or generational curses, This addressed will bring you into complete freedom. (if you are willing and work for your deliverance)

(1) You must be born again:- (believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and saviour)

This is done by a simple prayer and is a free gift of grace from the Lord Jesus Christ who took your sin upon the cross, this is why there must be repentance of sin.

You may say the following prayer and mean it from your heart:-

No christian can be totally taken over by demons , but every christian can be oppressed ,harassed and dominated by the enemy activity .

In Acts ch5 v3:- satan filled Ananias heart to lie to the Holy spirit , unrepentant believers are turned over to satan for the destruction of the flesh. 1 Corinthians 5,

Ephesians 6 10 - 17 speaks of our wrestling against the powers of darkness , quenching the enemies firery darts , and standing firm against his assaults . The enemy (satan , the devil) can attack the mind and the body of a christian . Christians need to embrace deliverance as part of their salvation .

In the Lords Prayer in Matthew ch6 v13 we are told to pray daily and in that prayer to say " deliver us from the evil one "

Deliverance is NOT for the non- believer

The truth is that if we went about casting demons out of non-believers ,then we would be ignoring some very important things that Jesus had to say about the deliverance ministry . Consider these passages in scripture :

But he answered and said , It is not meet to take the children's bread , and cast it to dogs .

Matthew ch15 v26

In the above verse , Jesus was speaking with a woman outside the covenant with God ,concerning casting a demon out of her daughter . Jesus made it very clear that this ministry was not intended for those outside the covenant with God .

When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man , he walketh though dry places ,seeking rest , and findeth none . Then he saith , I will return in to my house from whence i came out ; and when he is come , he findeth it empty , swept , and garnished . Then goeth he ,and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than the first . Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation .

Matthew ch12 v43 - v45

In the above passage , Jesus was making it very clear that if we cast a demon out of somebody who rejects Jesus Christ as their Lord and saviour , then we are setting that person up for a disaster .

One of the serious flaws in the idea of casting demons out of non-believers is that the demons have a right to be there , and unless a person accepts Jesus , that right cannot be removed or nullified . The bible tells us that when our sins are forgiven , the unclean spirits are stripped of their legal grounds in out lives .

Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.

Matthew ch12 v22

Another example is the woman who was bound with a spirit of infirmity. She was clearly not a lunatic, but merely had a physical infirmity caused by an unclean spirit:

And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And, Behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said to her, "woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity." and he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, there are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. The Lord then answered him, and said, "thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? and ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom satan has bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?"

Luke ch13 v10-v16

This passage clearly stats this dear lady was a believer and even went to church and did so for eighteen years. She just put up with it not being able to lift her head to look up. The devil made her look at the ground day in day out, most probably saying you are nothing not going to amount nothing can't even look up to see who is talking to you. So she just struggled on day by day making do. But on this day she met the Lord Jesus Christ in church he said "woman be loosed" and she came into her full healing.

Jesus didn't die for us to struggle on, make do and get along, put up with, he came so that we might have life and have it more abundantly. We need to claim our healing.

"possessed with a devil" in the new testament Greek

Nowadays, the word possessed infers ownership, such as our possessions.

But if you look this phrase up in the new testament Greek, we find an entirely different meaning. The phrase possessed with a devil translates to the Greek word daimonizomai, which means to have a demon or to be vexed (meaning tormented) by one. Demons do not own people, there is no scriptural evidence of such a thing not even in the life of a non-believer!

If you look up the accounts in the bible of demon possession, we find people who are either have demons or are being tormented by them. This can manifest in both the physical body or the soul (a persons mind, will and emotions.)

"But the deliverance ministry ended with Jesus's ministry!"

This is simply not true, and we don't have to read far into our bibles to find this out. After Jesus rose again, he appeared to his disciples and gave them the great commission:

And he said unto them, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is babtised shall be saved: but he believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;"

Mark ch16 v15-v17

If we continue reading into the book of Acts, we will find that the early church was also active in the ministry of deliverance:

And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

Acts ch8 v6-v7

And you, being dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Colossianss ch2 v13 - v15

Unfortunately, a non-believer cannot have their legal grounds removed, therefore, attempting to drive out a demon can be a dangerous scenario.

"But light cannot dwell with darkness!"

Many Christians assume that because they have the Holy Spirit, darkness cannot dwell in them. But they fail to recognise the darkness that can exist in a Christian's mind, such as lust, ungodly anger, weaknesses, and so on. This is darkness, isn't it? Even Paul said that there was evil indeed present in him:

Now then it is no more I that do it, but that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (thats the flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me: but how to perform that which is good I find not ... I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

Romans ch7 v17 - v21

How could Paul have evil present in him, and at the same time, be filled with the Holy Spirit? It is because Paul, as any human being, was composed of three parts.

He was spirit? and soul and flesh (the body) all live in your physical body.

The soul is different from the spirit. The spirit is the real you, which is united with the Holy Spirit if you are in Jesus Christ.Your soul is carnel nature the mind, will and emotions. Your mind, will and emotions are where the darkness can remain long after you have excepted Jesus Christ and where washed from all your sins. This is where unclean spirits can remain along with your physical body. The bible makes a clear distinction between a persons soul and spirit:-

Think of it as a hand in a glove, the glove is your body the hand is your spirit and the movements are the soul, its not the glove that is important it is what is in the glove that is important and what it does.

For the word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword piecing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intends of the heart.

Hebrews ch4 v12

Also look at this passage where the soul and spirit are said to be seperate from each other:

And the very God of peace sanctify you holy., and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians ch5 v23

Your spirit is born again and made new the moment you accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour but your mind, will and emotions were not born again. If this where true then you would have shed all the evil thoughts, desires and lusts all at once the moment you accepted Jesus. Consider this passage, and it is obvious that all baggage does not leave a believers soul the moment they are born again... but something is made new and old things have past away, that is because it is speaking of your spirit!

2 Corinthians ch5 v17

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Was this intended for believers? or non-believers?

When the evening was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils; and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: that it might be fullfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, himself took our infirmities, and bear our sicknesses.

Matthew ch8 v16-17

Here was the Lord Jesus demonstrating the benefits of the new covenant between God and his people, and in doing so, he was driving out demons and healing the sick. Now i ask you this: was Christ's payment for our physical healing (by his strips we are healed) for non-believers or believers?

believers of course! Then I believe this passage makes it very clear that deliverance (involving casting out demons) and our physical healing is a benefit meant for every believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and still relevant for today.

You don't have to be a lunatic to have a demon!

A common misunderstanding is that you have to be a lunatic, dress in black and levitate above your bed in order to have a demon. This is not true, and any studying of this subject in the bible will make this very clear. Consider the man who was perfectly sane mentally, but could not speak nor see because he had an unclean spirit which hindered his speech:
